 August 26,  great cormorants and a gannet on the lower western head,  many young great Cormorant of the year.

 they have left the nest platforms, some of which you can see in the middle of the picture.

Herb Fechter, last of the great Tropicbird chasers? this bird had been seen a couple days before, but we did not see it.

August 25, Seal Island.

 Two Gannets on Seal Island, gannets nested on Machias seal this summer, there has been one presumably one of these birds here for weeks. It is unusual to see gannets roosting ashore in this region.

 The Gannets appear to be swelling in our direction as have Puffins, Razorbills and Murre during recent decades.

 Big fish for puffin chicks today.

 lots of Puffins at Seal Island

 felonius skua,

This bird showed impressive acceleration once the pirate has a potential prize in sight, the pace of the wings increase in bursts,  as does a falcon, this time low over the water.
